Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is the established medical term for treatments such as decompression sickness, where oxygen is breathed in a pressurised environment under clinical supervision. Hyperbaric wellness takes that similar underlying environment, pressurised air and a raised oxygen level, and carries its wellbeing experience into general wellness, outside of medical treatment.
Inside an Iasis Suite, the air is gently pressurised and the ambient oxygen concentration is raised, with no mask required. You sit back, breathe normally, and let the environment do the rest. It is a calm, considered space built for stillness, in a similar spirit to a sauna or a cold plunge.
The Suite operates at a pressure level set to what is desired, up to 1.5 ATA, with oxygen concentration raised up to a 38% increase above the 21% in the air around us, placing it within the range generally associated with mild hyperbaric use.
The Suite is not classified as a medical device or hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Iasis Suites are non-medical devices and do not intend to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease, ailment, defect, or injury. This is a deliberate choice, made so it can reach a diverse range of people and settings, rather than being confined to clinical use.
No. "Hyperbaric oxygen therapy" refers to a medical treatment, administered under clinical supervision for specific diagnosed conditions. Iasis Suites are not classified as a therapy or a medical device. They are a wellness amenity: a mildly pressurised, oxygen-enriched environment intended for relaxation and recovery from daily life, not for treating, diagnosing, or curing anything. It is what allows an Iasis Suite to be operated by anyone knowledgeable in its use, rather than restricted to clinical settings.
No. There is no mask and no delivery of pure oxygen through a line. The suite gently raises the ambient oxygen concentration of the air inside it, to roughly 29%, compared with the 21% found in the air around us.
The sensation is closest to a gentle descent, similar to being a few metres underwater, or the change in a plane's cabin as it descends. A light pressure in the ears can be felt, and equalised the same way as on a flight or a dive: swallowing, yawning, or gently pinching the nose and exhaling.
Session length is fully customisable, set through the control panel. For normal use, sessions of up to 90 minutes are generally recommended.
Yes. Recurring use is often experienced as a valuable addition to an existing wellness regime, similar to a sauna or a cold plunge, rather than a single one-off session. How often is entirely a personal choice.
Safety is designed into the system itself. In the event of a power interruption, pressurisation simply stops, and the emergency pressure relief valve can be used to return the suite to standard pressure.
No. The suite draws in ambient air, filters it thoroughly before use, then mildly increases both its pressure and oxygen concentration. There are no oxygen tanks or bottled gas involved.
